Mi Hermosa Calle Olvera

Olvera Street, a historic street and marketplace within El Pueblo de Los Angeles, has given many residents and natives of Mexico the culture and spirit of their native land for centuries. Since the original name was established, the place has witnessed different governments and changes over the years. It has endured through the times of Spain's colonization, the independence of Mexico, and now exists under the United States, which preserves the historic street today. The market provides many unique items, including apparel, toys and food for everyone to enjoy. Alongside businesses that have been in operation for 90 years, newcomers continue to arrive to share in the joy of this beautiful village. Even my own family was introduced to this historic landmark early on as a way to learn about our past. Olvera Street offers residents and visitors a piece of history and culture preserved for centuries, with events that celebrate the joy of life and the continuing story of my beautiful Olvera Street.
